What is “Expeditie Robinson” in the Netherlands?
Expeditie Robinson is the Dutch and Belgian survival reality competition that’s been on the air since 2000. The format is the Survivor franchise localized: contestants are stranded on tropical islands (usually in Filipijnen or the Caribbean), divided into tribes, and compete in elimination challenges over weeks. Hosts have included Nicolette van Dam, Dennis Storm, and most recently Kaj Gorgels. Dutch Expeditie Robinson runs on RTL 4 and is one of the country’s longest-running reality competitions, alongside Wie is de Mol? and Boer Zoekt Vrouw. Belgian Expeditie Robinson has run on VTM since 2007 with parallel popularity.
