What does “guarrillos” mean in Spanish?
A mum lists her chores and explains why she has to clean again: “son un poco guarrillos.” Guarro means dirty or gross, and guarrillos is the softer, warmer version — it sounds small and affectionate, more like “my little messy ones” than a real insult. Fond, not angry: the tone of a parent who just tidied up and knows it will not last. In Spain you hear guarro and guarra a lot, for a dirty plate or a messy person.
She says: “tengo que volver a limpiar la casa porque son un poco guarrillos” — “I have to clean the house again because they’re a bit messy.” The base word is guarro/guarra (dirty, gross). Guarrillos is guarro said in a way that sounds smaller and warmer — the same idea, but gentler in the mouth.
