In Spanish, the baby of an animal is its cría. Where English just says “baby,” Spanish has a dedicated word: la cría is the young one a mother animal is caring for. It comes from criar, “to raise,” so a mother monkey and su cría are a parent and her little one. You can use it for almost any animal — la cría del perro, las crías de los gatos.
The clip points at a mother macaque and her baby: esta es la mamá y esta es su cría, su bebé — “this is the mum and this is her baby.” The speaker even glosses the word for you, pairing cría with the everyday bebé. Note the family of words from criar (to raise): in Spain un crío / una cría can also mean a small child, and bien criado means “well brought up.”
