What is an alfajor?
The alfajor is Argentina’s national snack, and arguably its most-consumed pastry. Two soft cookies sandwiched around a thick layer of dulce de leche, sometimes coated in chocolate or rolled in coconut. Argentines eat over a billion alfajores a year. The clip’s “crisis de alfajores” is a chocolate-factory shortage played for comic effect, because in Argentina an alfajor shortage is a real crisis.
