What does “musafaha” (مصافحة) mean in Arabic?
مصافحة means handshake, and its shape is the real lesson: the مُفاعَلة pattern builds nouns for actions that take two. A handshake needs two hands, so صافح (“to shake hands with”) becomes مصافحة. The same mold gives you مكالمة (a phone call), مقابلة (a meeting or interview), and مراسلة (correspondence) — all inherently two-sided acts, all wearing the same pattern.
The clip is a greeting menu: the teacher offers مصافحة, a high five (هاي فايف, borrowed straight from English), or a عناق — a hug, whose verb عانق sits in the very same mutual pattern. When both parties pick the handshake, the payoff line is لنصافح بعضنا — “let’s shake hands with each other.” Spotting مُفاعَلة words turns Arabic vocabulary from memorization into pattern-matching.
