What does زحمة (zuhma) mean in Arabic?
زحمة (zuhma) means crowd, congestion, or traffic jam, and it travels across every Arabic dialect. In formal Modern Standard Arabic the word is ازدحام (izdihām), but in daily speech — from Beirut to Cairo to Riyadh — زحمة is what people actually say. Stack it with كثير (ktīr, “a lot”) and you get زحمة كثير: the phrase a taxi driver, a tourist, or a city-dweller reaches for whenever the streets are packed.
