What do “chrupiący” and “pulchny” mean in Polish recipes?
The recipe promises waffles “chrupiące z zewnątrz i pulchne w środku” — crunchy outside, fluffy inside. “Chrupiący” is the crunch of a good crust (also chips, bacon, fresh bread), while “pulchny” describes something soft, plump, and a little puffed up — babies' cheeks get called “pulchne” too. Together, they’re the two-word compliment for anything baked right.
