What does “verbesserungswürdig” mean in German?

The cake is a mess — the cream barely worked, the jam ran off, there’s a big gap. But instead of saying “this is bad,” the speaker says “Es ist verbesserungswürdig.” It’s a calm, polite way to admit something isn’t good yet and still needs work. Germans use this word when they want to be honest about a problem without sounding harsh — a gentle “could be better.”
