What are “bokkenpootjes” in Dutch baking?
Bokkenpootjes are the traditional Dutch cookies shaped like little goat hooves: a soft almond-meringue body with both tips dipped in dark chocolate. The name (literally “little goat-feet”) comes from the silhouette. They’re a fixture of Dutch koffietafels (coffee-and-cookie tables) at office meetings, family Sundays, and birthdays. Bakkerijen sell them by the kilo, and supermarkets carry the Verkade and Bolletje versions year-round. Each cookie is roughly two-bite, never one, which means there’s always a second-half decision about the chocolate end.
