Why is a small face a compliment in Korean?
얼굴이 작다, “your face is small,” is a real compliment in Korea: a small head reads as good proportions and makes the body look taller, and celebrities get measured against phone screens to prove they have one. So drawing attention to your own 얼굴 면적, your “face surface area,” is a joke that lands instantly. You are boasting about the exact thing everyone else is trying to minimise.
