What does “budik” mean in Slovak?

At a comedy sleep-clinic, the counselor hands the couple a low-tech fix: «odnesiete si malý darček, a to tento budík» (“you’ll take home a little gift, this alarm clock”). A budík is an alarm clock, built from budiť (“to wake [someone]”).

The point is sleep hygiene: swap the phone-alarm for a real budík so screens stay out of the bedroom. Slovak makes lots of tool-nouns this way with -ík/-ič: budík (waker), vysávač (vacuum, “sucker”), počítač (computer, “counter”). One small gadget, and a tidy lesson in how Slovak names its machines.
