What does “brukar” mean in Swedish?

Swedish has a verb just for things you do habitually: brukar. English adds a word like “usually” (“I usually answer”). Swedish puts brukar in front and the next verb stays in its plain form: “brukar svara.” And here’s the bonus — change it to the past, brukade, and it means “used to.” So jag brukar svara is “I usually answer,” and jag brukade svara is “I used to answer.”
